Manufacturing Engineer II
Description
The Manufacturing Engineer / Continuous Improvement Engineer is responsible for developing and refining assembly methods, techniques, and practices to improve throughput, reduce cycle time, and enhance product quality. A key focus of this role is to identify and implement advanced manufacturing technologies—including automation and robotics—that support process scalability and performance gains. The ideal candidate is a hands-on problem solver who works closely with Assembly, Quality, and Engineering teams to translate design intent into efficient and repeatable production processes in a high-precision environment.
Key Responsibilities include:
-
Analyze existing assembly operations to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement
-
Develop and implement improved work methods, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and workstation layouts to reduce cycle time and increase throughput
-
Identify, evaluate, and implement advanced manufacturing technologies such as automation, robotics, and intelligent tooling to reduce manual variability and improve scalability
-
Monitor production data and performance metrics to track the effectiveness of implemented improvements
-
Lead and document time studies, process capability studies, and root cause investigations
-
Partner with Engineering and Quality teams to ensure that process changes maintain or improve product quality
-
Develop, document, and maintain production work instructions and SOPs; coordinate training and ensure production personnel are prepared to execute revised processes
-
Support manufacturing readiness for new product development and collaborate with suppliers and vendors on tooling, process capability, and quality improvements
-
Participate in cross-functional continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, or related methodologies
Required Qualifications
-
5+ years of experience in manufacturing, process, or industrial engineering within a precision assembly environment
-
Demonstrated success identifying and implementing automation, robotics, or other advanced manufacturing technologies
-
Proven success improving manufacturing throughput and reducing cycle time while maintaining or improving quality
-
Strong analytical skills and proficiency in time studies, process mapping, and data analysis
-
Ability to translate engineering requirements into efficient, scalable assembly procedures
-
Proficient in Microsoft 365 suite of applications
-
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including documentation and training
-
US Citizenship
Preferred Qualifications
-
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering
-
Experience with Lean manufacturing, Kaizen, or Six Sigma tools and techniques
-
Familiarity with optical or electro-mechanical assembly processes
-
Hands-on experience with fixture design and basic CAD tools
-
Experience working in ISO 9001 or other regulated manufacturing environments
